COVID-19 Information

We are ready to welcome you at Hajo’s Lodge, for now the lockdown regulations of South Africa only allow us to accommodate domestic business travellers and guests for the purpose of quarantine or isolation.

All of you who have stayed with us before will know our two properties, making it easy to separate between business travellers and guests who need to quarantine or isolate.

We are closely monitoring their guidelines as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the virus. Our focus is to ensure we meet your needs while doing our part to keep you, our staff and our communities safe. In order to achieve the highest possible safety, we implemented the following:


  • Social distancing is encouraged in all common areas to keep safe distance between guests and staff
  • Dispenser with hand sanitizer will be found at the entrances of both houses and will have to be used before each entering.
  • Optimized techniques for cleaning and disinfection (see details below)
  • Cutlery, crockery and glasses in the kitchen will not be available for self-service, you are welcome to ask the receptionist for what you need and it will be brought to your room
  • The honesty bar will not be available for self-service, please ask the receptionist for what you need and it will be delivered to your room
  • Luggage will not be handled by staff members, unless specially requested and sanitized


  • All guests are required to wear cloth or other suitable masks at all times when outside of their guest room while on the property
  • The temperature of all guests will have to be taken on arrival and every following day during the stay and being protocolled. If the temperature is above 38.0°C, access and stay will be denied
  • All guests have to register on arrival and give information about their travel (for COVID-19 post stay tracking), where from and where going after the stay as well as details of a contact person in case of emergency
  • In order to minimise the risk of infections, no visitors will be allowed on the properties and in the guest rooms

Staff members

  • All staff required to undergo temperature monitoring at beginning and end of shift, results being protocolled
  • If staff or an immediate family member of staff is showing temperature above 38.0°C or any other symptoms, the staff member will be asked to consult a doctor and stay home
  • Staff to regularly wipe down and sanitize their workspace
  • Staff to wear masks at all times, gloves and apron during cleaning
  • Staff to keep their hands clean and sanitize their hands regularly

Public areas

  • Regular hard surface cleaning and disinfection
  • Minimum distance at reception and regular wiping and disinfection
  • Regular disinfection of all door handles, taps, light switches and other high touch point areas

Guest rooms

  • Throws and cushions removed and all decoration reduced to a minimum in order to allow highest possible hygiene and safety
  • Extra blankets and pillows are removed from rooms, available on request and disinfected after each guest
  • Coffee, tea, milk and sugar will not be displayed in the room, please ask the receptionist for what you need and it will be delivered to your room
  • There is hand sanitizer in each guest room
  • Rooms will be cleaned when linen is changed only (see below) in order to keep contact at a safe minimum. However, on your request we will clean the room before linen change, please tell reception in the morning
  • Please put towels in front of the door of your room in case you like them to be changed
  • Linen will be changed latest after 6 nights (or if you request to do so earlier)
  • Linen and towels are washed hot in order to disinfect the fabrics
  • Guest rooms will be deep cleaned and disinfected and stay unoccupied for at least one night after each guest
  • Disinfection of keys and remotes after each guest


  • Efficient spacing between tables to ensure safe distance (please note that we will not be able to serve all guests at the same time, there might be delays)
  • For hygienic reasons the cold buffet is discontinued, instead we will serve cold and hot breakfast individually according to your order
  • All breakfast room furniture, kitchen and service items will be sanitized after each use
  • All cutlery, crockery and glassware will be washed hot and sanitized
